Magazine Cover

To start off making our magazine cover I needed to decide what magazine would best suit our film, out of Empire and Sight & Sound, I choose to go with Sight & Sound. Furthermore I then looked on the internet at other Sight & Sound covers to see if I could find one that I can base my magazine on and use the layout. I decided to base the layout on this Gary Oldman cover as seen below.

22/01/15

This is the day that we done our filming, and during this day we also decided to take some photos for our print work, this is when we took the image seen below.

3/02/15

On this date was when I first started making the image look like a magazine cover, I started off by cropping the part of the image that I wanted to use, as I only needed a close up and slightly off middle part of Rahys' face. After selecting the part I wanted and making the image the right size, I then put the masthead and the BFI part onto the magazine cover, this gave the magazine its identity of being a Sight & Sound magazine. Furthermore from this I also put the pug onto the magazine and put it roughly in the same place as where it was on the Gary Oldham cover.

The next step in creating my magazine cover was to put the Main Cover lines in, this took a lot more time then what I thought as we needed to get the font and then the position of the text right, in the end I ended up liking the layout seen below.

The next step in making my magazine cover was to add the rest of the cover lines, this wasn't as much of a daunting task as the main cover line but it was a long task due to having to make the yellow thin rectangles between the cover lines, other then that it was pretty simple and ending up looking like it does below. After this was done the magazine cover was complete.

A member of my group ended up making the magazine cover seen below;

However I didn't agree with the font used for 'THE AGENT' so I ended up changing the font of the agent to a font called 'Downcome'. I decided to do this as the font on the previous version looked like it would more suit a film for the horror genre, and as we was doing a thriller I thought it needed to change, and the font 'Downcome' matched the genre. My version is seen below.

Poster

I wasn't originally meant to make a poster, however I wanted to alter one of the already made posters to also include the 'Downcome' font that I liked and that I thought matched the thriller genre and therefore our film. Below is the original image that I used for the poster.

12/02/15

This is the date where altered my poster, I added the title, tagline, reviews and a hashtag to the poster, this didn't take too long to do as I used the online software 'Ribbet' which made it very easy to input the text and alter its size and location.

Trailer

22/01/15

Today was our first day of filming. We had permission to shoot in our venue, alongside informing the Neighbourhood Watch team that we would be filming with a gun. The first few shots we took were the ones that were indoors, these include the scene at the bar and the scene of them at the restaraunt. We choose to do these ones first as the venue was currently quiet so it would be ideal to get these shots out of the way as there would be less background noise and furthermore we wouldm't be interupting the guests at the venue. The shots we done went smoothly, but as always we done each shot numerous times so we have a selection to choose from when it comes to editing the trailer.

The next few shots we done were the ones where our villains first come into the restaraunt and reveal the gun. These shots were a lot harder to do then the previous shots as we couldn't get the opening of the door shot right, it was even opened to slow, or to fast. Also the reveal of the gun faced similar issues so each of these shots had to be done quiet a few times before we was happy with the shot.

Next we went outside and filmed the shots where we see our two protaganists running out of the restauraunt and our fight scene. We spent a long time taking shots for our fight scene just so we have a variety to choose from when we go and edit. Some shots of the fight scene proved troublesome with our actors not being able to keep straight faces or making the scene not look realistic where we can see punches not connecting, however we did in the end get the shots we wanted.

29/01/15

Today we asked our teacher if we use her car for one of our scenes, and as she was available today we decided to capitalise on this opportunity and film it today. We went to the same car park as where the fighting scene was taken place and filmed our shots. The one shot today that caused us trouble was the shot where the car pulls away fast and causes a wheel spin. The first few times we tried the car even went off camera too fast or didn't wheelspin, the alter this and to get it to work we handheld the camera so we could pan it to the side to follow the cars front wheel as it drives off and ended up looking good.
